A Moscow man punched his girlfriend in the head during an argument over a bottle of alcohol, according to a criminal complaint.

Police charged Larod J. Miller, 44, of 102 Scanlon Lane, with simple assault, harassment and making terroristic threats.

According to the complaint:

Moscow borough police officers responded to the Scanlon Lane residence at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute.

Officers found Tara Ann LaRoche screaming from a second-floor apartment staircase.

LaRoche, who appeared intoxicated, showed police a large swollen knot on the left side of her forehead that was black and blue.

She said Miller had punched her during an argument over purchasing alcohol.

Miller told police he was sleeping on the sofa when LaRoche woke him up.

Miller appeared intoxicated and slurred his words. He was unable to explain what happened next or how LaRoche suffered the injury. Miller repeatedly told police she was lying.

LaRoche said she wanted Miller arrested and repeated that Miller had threatened her by saying “if I don’t go to jail, you gonna die.”

Miller was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

Miller remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 17 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
