READING, Pa. – Four years after Orlando Rodriguez was killed on North 10th Street in Reading, prosecutors say the man they want to try for that murder is now on the run.

“We are in the process of trying to locate Kadrise Patience, who is charged with murder from an incident that took place June 17th of 2021,” Berks County District Attorney John Adams said.

Adams says Patience was first arrested in 2022. In 2024, a Berks County judge threw out the homicide charges, ruling there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward. The DA’s office appealed. Then, in April of this year, the state Superior Court reversed that decision, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court let it stand, effectively reinstating the charges.

“The defendant was scheduled to appear in court on November 13th, 2025, and he actually appeared at the courthouse, and before he could be taken back into custody, the defendant disappeared,” Adams said. “He has been a fugitive since November of 2025. A bench warrant was immediately issued by the trial court.”

Prosecutors say Patience and co-defendant Magnum Morrison went into Rodriguez’s home to rob him of drugs. Rodriguez was shot and killed. Morrison was convicted by a jury earlier this year of conspiracy in connection with the case. Now, investigators say they want Patience back in court.

“This individual is a violent offender. He needs to be taken into custody, he needs to answer for the charges, and we need to protect the safety of our community,” Adams said.

Authorities believe Patience may be in the greater Reading or southeast Pennsylvania region.
