ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Two pedestrians were seriously injured after a vehicle crashed into a market in Allentown Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle crashed into the Elias Farmers Market along the 100 block of Tilghman Street in Allentown around 1:30 p.m., according to Lehigh County dispatchers.

Crews found a 53-year-old man and a 25-year-old man suffering from serious injuries, according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

City surveillance footage shows a 71-year-old woman driving a SUV in a parking lot, city police said in its news release.

While trying to park, the vehicle pulls through a parking stall and strikes the building, according to city police. The SUV then accelerates rapidly in reverse, hitting a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle, according to the news release. It subsequently moves forward, drives through the open parking stall, strikes the two pedestrians, and crashes into the building a second time, causing further damage, police said.

City police say the driver was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators.
