PITTSBURGH — McDonald’s owner-operators across western Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley will raise money for local high school athletic programs during the chain’s first High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day on Oct. 23.

Participating restaurants in the Erie, Pittsburgh, Johnstown-Altoona, Wheeling-Steubenville and Clarksburg areas will donate 10 percent of all sales made through the McDonald’s app that day to selected high schools in their communities. A total of 206 schools across the region will benefit, each receiving at least $250.

“We are proud to have this partnership with our local schools,” said Twila Mezan, a McDonald’s owner-operator in Pittsburgh. “Our hope is that local communities come out and support their schools and help make High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day a success throughout the region.”

This is the first year Pennsylvania schools have participated in the initiative.

Customers can participate by ordering through the McDonald’s app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
