State leaders and citizens attended the meeting, voicing their opinions around the proposed 7% price hike.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission held a hearing on Thursday evening to hear the public’s concern over a potential rate hike.

Members of Pa.’s government, as well as their constituents, attended the meeting at Manheim Township Public Library to voice their opinions around the proposed 7% rate hike.

The 7% rate hike would provide PPL with a 33.4% revenue increase. State Rep. Nikki Rivera (D-Lancaster) spoke about how important it is for the community to come out to events where they can voice their opinions.

“Once these rates are in place, we can’t go back and fight it, so to come out here to express what the concerns are to get the clarification is our opportunity, and I always want to seize an opportunity when we have one,” said Rivera.

A final decision on the rate hike is expected on July 1, 2026.
