The Erie County Health Department and Erie County Community Health Center recently announced a significant expansion of their dental program, reinforcing the link between oral health and overall well-being.

Good dental care impacts quality of life and can help prevent diseases throughout the body.

The dental program now has16 state-of-the-art dental chairs at three convenient locations: the EHOVE School Based Health Center; the main campus at 420 Superior St.; and the Kelleys Island Health Center.

New dental patients of all ages are currently being accepted.

The services offered include routine teeth cleanings, full X-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, fillings, extractions and newly added crowns, the release said.

Same-day appointments are often available for urgent needs.

Erie County Health Department and Erie County Community Health Center will accept Medicaid, Medicare, self-pay and most employer or private insurances, with grant programs available to help offset costs for those who qualify, the release said.

“This expansion is about breaking down barriers,” said Pete Schade, Erie County Health commissioner, in the release. “We want every resident, regardless of age or financial situation, to access the high-quality dental care essential for overall health.”

As the only truly comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center in Erie, Huron and Ottawa counties, the The Erie County Health Department and Erie County Community Health Center uniquely integrates dental care with primary care, mental health services, inpatient withdrawal treatment, inpatient crisis care and outpatient addiction services, including connections to sober living facilities, the release said.
