ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Get ready to lace up your skates: Disney on Ice is twirling into Allentown!
Sydney Kay reports from the PPL Center about all the magic on the rink. The show began Thursday night and is running through Sunday.
“The Disney magic is truly something special to see,” said James Robert-Morgan, a skater performing in Disney on Ice.
He said he feels fortunate that he is able to travel the world with the company.
A lot goes into the show, including the costumes and the props. The costumes are “truly a work of art,” Robert-Morgan said.
Robert-Morgan said the performers put in many hours of practice for the shows. Aerial acrobatics and the immersive experience make the show something special, he said.
Performer Marcus Mimidis said he also enjoys traveling around the world and seeing the faces of people in the audience light up.
He said the ice in different venues have different sizes and textures, so performers practiced at the PPL Center ahead of the show to get a feel for the ice.
The show is interactive, giving members of the audience opportunities to participate, Mimidis said.
His castmates become like friends and family to him, he said.
Mimidis said he has been performing for 12 years.
Skater Ciara Pinckney said she has been performing for eight years. She’ll be playing the “Aladdin” character Jasmine. She said the audience is her favorite thing about performing.
She said that as a fan she never missed a show in her hometown.
