PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — This week on FYI Philly, it’s our holiday gift guide and we are visiting local makers with one-of-a-kind finds for everyone on your list.

The Cacao Pod is a new private event space at Shane Confectionary.

The historic building, dating back to the 1700s, is where the team at Shane Confectionery provides a hot chocolate speakeasy.

They are serving some of the city’s finest hot chocolate, along with a collection of the treats that have made the confectionery such a popular destination in Philadelphia.

The museum gift shops at local cultural institutions have more than just souvenirs.

The shops are packed with works from local artisans, exclusive products made for a specific museum and inspired items that articulate the mission behind the museum.

Each museum shop is open to the public without a ticket for admission and has an online store. The products sold support the museum, so the gifts are unique and impactful.

Art of Word was created by Dan Duffy more than 15 years ago when he was trying to impress his now-wife with his art chops way back in 2009.

That first piece featuring former Phillies pitcher Brad Lidge from the 2008 World Series launched a business and he married the girl.

His wife Jessica and two children have seen the business grow from sports related Philly favorites to music, wrestling and history pieces all made with words.

Each piece takes careful research and months to create. You can shop online and have the pieces shipped for the holidays.

Julie hosts hands-on cooking classes during the week and on weeknights in Manyunk. Her specialties include French pastries and breads, such as croissants and French baguettes, as well as chocolate soufflés and other desserts.

This past November, Julie opened cooking classes for L’Atelier Bakery in her new ghost kitchen. Her goal is to bring people together to create community through cooking.

She hopes to open for retail in February, but in the meantime, she will release pre-order dessert boxes every Friday until she can open for retail.

At Nature’s Vin in Wayne, you can start your wine journey in the tasting room, drinking wine from around the globe, served by the half or full glass and by the flight.

There are sweet and savory snacks along with charcuterie boards to nibble on while you sip. And if you taste something you like, you can buy it in the neighboring shop.

It’s the creation of Ragini Parmar, who is creating a space that celebrates women.

All of the wines are by women winemakers. The provisions in the shop are from women-led companies and there are wine books by female authors.

George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker,” presented by Philadelphia Ballet, has become a long-standing holiday tradition beloved by generations.

Dancers from both the professional company and children from the school start rehearsing about a month prior, with about 80 dancers of all ages sharing the stage.

It’s the story of a little girl named Marie, who is at a Christmas party with her family when her Uncle Drosselmeyer brings her a nutcracker that is supposed to be magical.

Performances run through December 31 at the Academy of Music.
