• Renewed Spirit Church, 449 N. Ninth St., Reading, will be holding an authentic German Christmas worship service on Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. The Reading Liederkranz Chorus, under the direction of Mark Herr, will provide the music. Herr has served as minister of music and education in Lutheran, United Church of Christ and Episcopalian churches in addition to leading the Reading Liederkranz Chorus since 2007. Adalbert Sell, a schoolteacher and choir director, suggested they organize a singing society, and thus was born the Reading Liederkranz, which within a year grew to a chorus of 40 singers. The Rev.
