(WHTM) – On This Week in Pennsylvania, State Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa (D) joins the show to discuss the subpoenas for information on the security upgrades at Governor Josh Shapiro’s personal residence after an arson attack at his Harrisburg home.

Costa argues that the committee that approved the subpoenas does not have investigatory power, and that any investigation should be referred to the Inspector General, Attorney General, or Auditor General.

“All the contracts, all the invoices, all the information is posted in different places,” Costa said.

State Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-Nucks/Lehigh), who chairs the Intergovernmental Operations Committee, said what happened to Shapiro and his family during the attack was “disgusting and completely inexcusable.”

“The residence that was attacked in Harrisburg should be repaired,” Coleman said. “But when folks hear about repairs being made to private property, and this is private real-estate not associated with the attack, certainly there are lots of questions.”

It’s estimated that $1 million in taxpayer money has been spent on the Shapiro family’s Montgomery County home.
