Erie County has received a distinguished award.

Auditor Rick Jeffrey and the accounting staffs of every Erie County department recently were presented with the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction by Scott Sands, Northwest Regional liaison for Auditor of State Keith Faber at their yearly meeting, according to a news release.

“This award is presented for excellence in financial reporting related to the annual Comprehensive Financial Report and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year ended 2024,” according to the award. “Your exemplary reporting serves as the standard for clean, accountable government, representing the highest level of service to Ohioans.”

Receiving this Award with Distinction for a “clean” audit report occurs in less than 5% of government entities, according to the release.

Jeffrey thanked and recognized all the county accounting staff for their continued diligence and hard work to yearly achieving this award during his year-end accounting meeting Dec. 1, the release said.
