BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Grandma Chicken Pica Pollo will be opening a new location on 306 Broadhead Ave. in South Side Bethlehem.

The restaurant’s new location is across from the Comfort Suites and on the last block before the Hill to Hill Bridge.

The fried chicken restaurant known for its authentic Dominican flavoring and seasoning is expected to open its second location in mid-January.

The restaurant’s first location on 624 N Maxwell Street in Allentown opened its doors two years ago.

Gomez said he is anticipating more foot traffic as the restaurant sets up shop on a busy street in Bethlehem, especially with Lehigh University close by.

“The brand has picked up and the popularity with the Dominican fried chicken has grown massively,” owner Jorge Gomez said.

Gomez also noted the presence of other fried chicken options in South Bethlehem, but said he believes the restaurant’s heightened promotion will draw customers to the new location.

“(We) doubled-down on organizing efforts to grow the brand,” Gomez said “(We) feel like it’s just a matter of the public just being able to taste the chicken and then the rest does the work itself.”

The Allentown location is open on weekdays and Saturdays, with the exception of Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. This schedule will likely remain the same for the Bethlehem location.
