St. Michael’s Christmas cookie walk: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church lower-level church hall, 205 N. Main St., Pittston. Create a sampler of homemade cookies. No entrance fee. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, nut kolachi, tea cakes, ginger bread, pepper cookies and more. Visitors invited to select their own cookies and place into containers with disposable gloves, all provided. Each box is weighed at checkout; cost is $12 per pound. Christmas basket and gift bag raffle; complimentary hot chocolate.

Carol sing at St. Peter’s: 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. St. Peter’s  Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 Rock St., Hughestown. Led by local organist Michael Sowa on St. Peter’s historic M.P. Möller pipe organ as well as the piano. Public invited for an hour of both peace and festivity just a few days before Christmas.

Duryea Lions Club donations: Duryea Lions Club is sending a mailer asking for help in funding many projects, including arranging and maintaining the colorful LED Christmas lights and decorations on both Main Streets and at Main and Stevenson streets. Lions also will use donations to assist other programs the club sponsors, including youth programs, food certificates provided to churches for those in need, civic organizations, diabetes research/treatment, Lions Club International Foundation, veterans organizations, Lions of 14W Foundation, sight conservation/research, Beacon Lodge 500 Club and Camp, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Lions of PA Foundation, PA Lions Hearing Foundation, District 14W Vision Foundation, Lions street signs and scholarships to graduating students from Duryea who attend Pittston Area, Holy Cross, Holy Redeemer, Scranton Prep and Wyoming Seminary.
