After his remarks on the economy at a Uline warehouse in Lower Macungie Township on Tuesday morning, Vice President JD Vance’s visit to the Lehigh Valley wasn’t finished.

The vice president and second lady Usha Vance traveled to the Allentown Rescue Mission. The Vances served food along with U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, according to the White House press pool.

The vice president asked the dozens of men lined up for food if they would like turkey or ham, according to the pool report.

“Cooked carrots are disgusting,” Vance said in response to someone who asked for everything but the carrots. “Don’t tell my wife I said that.”

The vice president was wearing a hair net, and joked to Chavez-DeRemer he doesn’t often wear them.
