BETHLEHEM, Pa. – B. Braun Medical is announcing a new initiative aimed at bolstering supply chain resiliency.
The Bethlehem-based medical technology company has launched what it’s calling its Supply Assurance Program, which guarantees 45 days of inventory on hand at “key distributor warehouse locations,” B. Braun said in a news release.
The typical “days of inventory on hand” benchmark is 24-28 days, the company said, adding that the new program will ensure a “robust safety stock” across its three U.S. warehouses, which includes a facility in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County.
The program covers B. Braun’s full product portfolio.
“To address supply and demand uncertainty, B. Braun is working closely with our key distributor partners to finalize agreements that position additional inventory in the forward supply chain. This proactive approach ensures healthcare providers have the products they need—precisely when they need them,” said Tim Cokkinias, corporate vice president for distribution, sales and operations, in the news release.
B. Braun Medical’s headquarters are on 12th Avenue in Bethlehem. It also has a manufacturing facility on Marcon Boulevard in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, which has been targeted for a $20 million dollar expansion. The project, announced in September, is expected to create at least 200 new, full-time jobs over the next three years.
The company currently manufactures more than 2,400 medical devices and related products in Lehigh County. According to a previous news release announcing the Marcon Boulevard expansion, the upgrades will enhance IV therapy, pharmacy admixture, and compounding operations products.
B. Braun Medical is part of the B. Braun Group of Companies in the U.S.
