KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The U.S. Marshals Service has announced a man who is on Pennsylvania’s Top 5 Most Wanted list has been arrested in East Tennessee.
USMS said the Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force arrested Corey Matthew Maikranz at a hotel in Sevierville. He was wanted out of Pennsylvania for child rape and other sex offenses involving juvenile victims.
“Protection of our children is our most fundamental duty as a society. It is an awesome day when we can take away the freedom of an animal like this who has violated the innocence of young victims,” Eastern District of Tennessee U.S. Marshal David Jolley said.
According to USMS, Maikranz has a history of offenses against children. He was charged with beating a 3-year-old child in 2016. He later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
“As a father and grandfather, the crimes this guy has committed are incomprehensible and I especially don’t appreciate that he thought he could run to East Tennessee and hide in his attempt to flee from justice,” Jolley said. “I would like to commend the deputy U.S. Marshals and the Pennsylvania State Police for their excellent investigative work in tracking down this subject. You can run but you can’t hide. Come here and we will be waiting with handcuffs.”
USMS said Maikranz was transported to the Sevier County Jail. He will be extradited back to Pennsylvania.
