READING, Pa. – The state is keeping efforts to revive passenger train service between Reading and Philadelphia on track.
The state awarded a grant of more than $400,000 for the next step of the Federal Railroad Administration’s Corridor Identification and Development Program.
This phase includes preliminary design plans and will look at engineering and environmental issues.
We’re told these funds will be used for engineering costs and more funds will be needed.
Passenger rail service between Reading and Philadelphia ended in 1981.
