Brightly colored gift bags filled the floor beneath a Christmas tree sitting inside the front door of Kozloff Stoudt Attorneys’ offices in Wyomissing on Friday morning.

Inside were stuffed animals, toy cars, games and clothing — all sorts of fun treats sure to make a kid’s Christmas merry. And that’s something the tykes who will get a chance to open those presents desperately need.

The gifts were donated on Friday to Safe Berks, a local nonprofit that serves victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. They will be handed out to kids in the organization’s emergency shelter and rapid rehousing program.

“We think that they are a very good cause, we appreciate what they do for our community,” said Dan Becker, managing director of Kozloff Stoudt. “And we want to support their mission.”

Becker said the law firm selects a local organization each holiday season to support, focusing on ones they can provide presents to kids. Employees this year provided gifts through an Angel Tree, selecting a name and picking out items for a particular child.

Gifts were purchased for more than two dozen kids.

Becker said being able to give back to the community is something employees cherish.

“This is the true holiday spirit,” he said. “And it shows the firm’s values.”

Dimitrios Aletras Jr., director of development for Safe Berks, stopped by Kozloff Stoudt to pick up the gifts. He said they will have an immense impact.

“These are survivors taking the first steps towards starting over,” he said. “It helps them kick off that new journey.”

Aletras expressed gratitude for the kindness of employees at the firm.

“This is so generous,” he told the small crowd of employees who gathered to help load a white van with the presents. “Everyone is going to be so happy.”
