READING, Pa. – The Reading Fire Department is serving the community in more than one way this holiday season.

Today, the department held its 17th annual toy drive breakfast at Trooper Thorns.

Folks could enjoy a free breakfast with the donation of a new toy.

Those donations will go to The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Organizers say they’ve already taken in more than $10,000 worth of toys.

“You just can’t beat the feeling of helping out the children of the city, and communities outside of the city, and fulfilling their Christmas wishes,” said Jason Batz with Reading Fire Department.

This year’s toy drive is in memory of retired Reading firefighter Keith “Sarge” Eschleman who was a big part of Christmas in Reading.
