• Immanuel United Church of Christ, 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, will offer a special morning of worship on Sunday at 9 a.m. Singers, handbell ringers, instrumentalists and readers from the congregation and wider community will lead Hal Hopson’s “A Festival of Lessons and Carols.” Through scripture, familiar carols, choral anthems and the sounds of organ, strings, handbells and percussion, worshipers will hear the story of God’s promise and the coming of Christ. Presented not as a concert but as worship, the service offers a meaningful pause during the busy season — a time to breathe, listen, and be centered by the music and message of Advent. There will be two Christmas Eve services. A family-friendly interactive service will be held at 3:30 p.m., featuring a retelling of the Christmas story with a children’s pageant, carols and communion. A Festival Christmas Eve service will follow at 8, including special brass musicians, candlelight and communion.

• Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will hold its Sunday school Christmas pageant, “On Christmas Night,” on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Featuring children’s voices and instrumental music, the story of the Nativity will be told by the animals at the manger. The Reformation Choir as well as Bell Choir will participate. Dr. Heidi Rochlin is the director.

• Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zions Church Road, Perry Township, will host a Nativity display today from noon-3 p.m. More than 300 Nativity sets from a private collection will be on display. The display will also be available for viewing on Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday School Christmas program.  A time of fellowship will follow the service.  A free-will donation will be received to benefit Domestic Lutheran Disaster Response.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will host a free Christmas meal on Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. No registration required.

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will have a Christmas Eve service with music by the Koenig Brass Ensemble and the church choir from 7-7:30 p.m. Worship will begin at 7:30.

• Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main St., Oley, will celebrate Music Sunday during the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Music will be provided by the Maidencreek Church choir and Friedens choir, who will sing “The First Noel.” The Vintage Brass Quintet will provide accompaniment during the singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus.” A fellowship hour will follow the service. For the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service, guest musician Kristen Diehl and soloist Kelsey Feeg will provide the music.

• Renewed Spirit Church, 449 N. Ninth St., Reading, will be holding an authentic German Christmas worship service on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Reading Liederkranz Chorus, under the direction of Mark Herr, will provide the music. Herr has served as minister of music and education in Lutheran, United Church of Christ and Episcopalian churches in addition to leading the Reading Liederkranz Chorus since 2007. He also directs the Ephrata Cloister chorus and is an adjunct professor of music and philosophy at Reading Area Community College. The Reading Liederkranz began in 1885 as a birthday gathering of eight German immigrants.  After singing their traditional German folk songs, they realized that they were a very good octet. Adalbert Sell, a schoolteacher and choir director, suggested they organize a singing society, and thus was born the Reading Liederkranz, which within a year grew to a chorus of 40 singers. The Rev. Sonja Ware, pastor, will preach the sermon. The service will be broadcast live on WEEU-AM 830.

• St. Joseph’s (Hill) Lutheran Church, 244 Koch Road, Pike Township, will provide a sign language interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired during its 7 p.m. service on Christmas Eve. There will be a service of Lessons and Carols with the Exeter Community Band on Dec. 28 at 9 a.m. An offering will be received to benefit the band.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will hold Coffee and Conversation on Sunday at 8:30 and 10 a.m. in the Welcome Center.

• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will be holdinga candlelight Christmas Eve service. Pre-service music will begin at 10:30 p.m. Guestmusicians will be Jimmy Damore, pianist; Diana Liberi, pianist; Mary McCormick-Artchutowski, soprano; Jody Goodhart, violinist; and Levi Collins, guest Bell Choir director.

• Salem Lutheran Church,  8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel Townhip, will welcome supply pastor the Rev. Robert Kramer as its worship leader for the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, which is followed by a social time, with refreshments, in the church’s multi-purpose room.
