The holidays take a lot of work to pull off — gift wrapping, travel, decorating, cleaning and so many other things on your to-do list. Thankfully, a local concierge service is happy to take some chores off your ‘ backs and let you focus on the eggnog.
Here For You Concierge provides services for Lehigh Valley clients such as gift shopping and wrapping, pantry preparation, hostess support for events, cleaning, laundry, organizing and preserving photos, according to owner Melissa Draving. She works alongside assistants on a project basis and operates out of shared office space at 6081 Hamilton Blvd., Suite 600, in Lower Macungie Township.
Before Draving founded the concierge business in 2017, her mother Carolyn was a small business owner herself, operating the music store Trac Records for 30 years in Doylestown, Bucks County, until it closed in 2007.
“I really wanted to follow in her footsteps and start a business in my 20s as well,” Draving said. “So I kind of looked around, I was doing a lot of projects for my own family, like I was helping my parents with their household management. So all their laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep [and] cleaning because my mother was sick with terminal cancer. And so when she passed away, she made me the executor of the estate and I had to sell the 13-acre home and do organizing and arrange buyers to come purchase items that we owned that needed to be downsized and manage the logistics of clearing out the home of items before it was sold. And after everything settled, I kind of was like, ‘Well, what is somebody else that does this for other people?’ “
She said her services are especially useful for clients such as a doctor with small children and a bachelor wanting to spruce up his home with new furniture and art (which is great for having the girl he likes to potentially visit).
“I really just always love to help people,” Draving said.
Draving also wants to grow her business’s revenue and team size, in part so that she can spend more time with her daughter Maggie while giving her team the same opportunity.
“My goal is to continue to grow a larger team and provide more flexible work to other women who … for example, some of my new assistants are from a mom’s club that I’m a part of, and so I’m providing them with flexible, project-based work that they can do while they’re still staying at home with their younger children,” she said. “It’s just to keep the company growing so that I can provide more opportunities for people to have meaningful work that’s interesting [and] that’s flexible around their child care schedules. And to set an example … my daughter’s 3, so I want to set an example for her, but also have more flexibility on my own time because as a mother, we want to have time with our kids.”
