A man killed in a fire that broke out in Dupont Borough on Tuesday morning has been identified as an elderly resident of the home.

Thomas Kudrako, 77, was pronounced dead following the fire at his home at 407 McLean St., Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes said.

Crews were dispatched to the home shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday and arrived to find a working fire with entrapment.

Firefighters removed Kudrako from the basement of the home, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Units from across the region responded to the scene to assist with the fight. Firefighters reported the fire was under control after about an hour.

A state police fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
