A young teenager was charged after allegedly threatening to “shoot up” a middle school in Delaware, according to the Smyrna Police Department.
A school resource officer working at Smyrna High School was told about a student making a threat against the school on Thursday, Oct. 16, officials said.
An investigation was launched where officials said they discovered that the threat came from a 13-year-old student who said he wanted revenge after a previous incident.
Officials explained the 13-year-old said he would “shoot up the school.”
The Smyrna Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the 13-year-old on Friday, Oct. 17 and charged him with terroristic threatening and intend to cause serious inconvenience to school.
The teen was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and was released.
