Packy Doherty got Scranton Prep off to a fast start Saturday, scoring 12 of his 21 points in the first quarter to help lead the Cavaliers to a 60-29 victory over Delaware Valley in a Lackawanna League Division I boys basketball opener.
Chicky Skoff added 13 points for the No. 5 Cavaliers (1-0, 2-2), who led after one quarter, 19-5.
Colin McGarvey’s seven points led No. 7 Delaware Valley (0-1, 4-2).
Old Forge 66, Honesdale 41: At Old Forge, Logan Fanning totaled 23 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four assists as the Blue Devils rolled to victory in their Lackawanna Division II opener.
Fanning had 13 points in the first quarter as No. 8 Old Forge raced to a 26-8 lead.
Camren Krushnowski added 14 points for the Blue Devils (1-0, 4-2). Cameron Parker chipped in 13 points and seven assists.
Levi Martin scored 13 points to top Honesdale (0-1, 4-3).
Mid Valley 65, Western Wayne 25: At Mid Valley, Landon Pratt scored 23 points to lead the host Spartans to a win in their Lackawanna Division II opener.
Pratt had 13 of his points in the first half to help Mid Valley open a 35-16 halftime lead.
Zack Buza and Jeremy Cali added 12 points apiece for the Spartans (1-0, 3-3).
Xavier James scored eight points to lead Western Wayne (0-1, 2-4).
Berks Catholic 66, Abington Heights 48: At Abington Heights, Berks Catholic broke a halftime tie with a big third quarter to defeat the Comets in a nonleague game.
Kingston McKoy scored 23 points for Berks, including 10 in the third quarter when the Saints went on a 20-7 run.
Carmelo Harper added 21 points and Johnny Giesa had 17 for Berks (6-1).
Jordan Shaffer led No. 4 Abington Heights (4-3) with 16 points and Andrew Kettel followed with 15.
Dunmore 86, Mount Carmel 57: At Dunmore, Brayden Canavan and Carter Sload each scored 23 points to power the host Bucks to a nonleague victory over Mount Carmel.
Sload hit six of Dunmore’s 13 3-pointers in the game.
Jimmy Clark added 12 points for the No. 3 Bucks (7-0) and Jake Costanzo contributed 11.
Juide Lazicki topped Mount Carmel (3-2) with 32 points.
Elk Lake 57, Northeast Bradford 42: At Elk Lake, Chase Pond scored 19 points to help the Warriors hand Northeast Bradford its first loss in a nonleague matchup.
John Heitsman and Brayden Miller each added 13 points for Elk Lake (6-1), which took control in the second quarter by outscoring Northeast Bradford, 22-13, to open a 10-point halftime lead. Pond had 10 points in the quarter and Heitsman nine.
Dayton Russell led Northeast Bradford (7-1) with 16 points. Clay Wilks followed with 14 for the District 4 Panthers.
