AARP NEPA Chapter 3731 recently held a fire-safety seminar for its members at St. John’s Byzantine Church Hall, Scranton. Fire-prevention officer Dan Frantz of the Scranton Fire Department was the principal speaker and explained the importance of practicing sound fire safety measures in the home. Topics discussed included keeping flammable items away from heat sources, installing smoke detectors and extinguishers, as well as periodic testing, minimizing lint in dryers, cellphone and electrical appliance charging practices and preparing a home escape plan.
