Artwoven by Hand: The Work of Peg McDade | Everhart Museum, Scranton, PA
June 19 – November 30 | Wednesday–Sunday, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA proudly presents Artwoven by Hand: The Work of Peg McDade, on view June 19 through November 30, 2025, Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

This special exhibition celebrates the life and legacy of Peg McDade (1937–2025), one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s most cherished fiber artists. A master of both traditional and experimental textile techniques, McDade’s work includes crochet, knitting, weaving, embroidery, appliqué, and reverse appliqué—each piece a rich tapestry of texture, intention, and skill.

Born in Scranton, McDade described each creation as “woven by hand,” a philosophy that infused her artistry with meaning and her teaching with purpose. The exhibition showcases work from throughout her career, including pieces from private collections belonging to those profoundly impacted by her creative vision and friendship.

Visitors will gain insight into McDade’s dual legacy as both an artist and an educator who helped build a strong and lasting fiber arts community in the region.
