CATASAUQUA, Pa. – An animal rescue in Lehigh County is now caring for a litter of newborn puppies found abandoned at a Target store in Philadelphia.
Outcast Rescue received an urgent call from ACCT Philly late Saturday night after eight puppies were discovered inside a shopping bag, according to a release from the rescue.
Authorities say if these babies not been crying, they may never have been found. They were only hours old when they were found—their umbilical cords were still wet.
The rescue says when the puppies arrived, their body temperatures were dangerously low. Newborn puppies must be warm in order to survive and to feed, and every minute matters.
Outcast says they are hopeful that all of these babies will survive, but some of the puppies are dehydrated, and a few are urinating blood, which is deeply concerning. They are receiving round-the-clock care, but they still have a long road ahead, the release says.
The rescue says they are urgently in need of supplies, such as puppy formula, pee pads, and wipes, to give the puppies the chance they deserve.
If you have any information of where the puppies came from, authorities urge you to contact ACCT Philly or PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement.
Outcast Rescue says if you would like to donate to their care you can do so by sending supplies via their wish list link. You can also Venmo “outcast-rescue”.
