An Allentown man who authorities said was drunk and high will serve up to 10 years in prison for a 2022 crash that killed a pedestrian, the Lehigh County district attorney’s office said.

Shaba Xavier Hill, 26, was sentenced Tuesday to five to 10 years in prison by Lehigh County Judge Thomas M. Caffrey, according to a news release.

Hill pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to felony homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Hill was charged in 2024 with running down the pedestrian, John C. Nick, at Springhouse Road and Springwood Drive, near Trexler Memorial Park in Allentown. Hill, according to authorities, was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and methamphetamine at the time of the crash around 5:45 a.m. Oct. 30, 2022.

Hill had a blood-alcohol level of 0.144%, above the legal threshold for drunken driving.

Nick, 77, was found lying near a pedestrian crosswalk. He was pronounced dead of multiple blunt force injuries by the Lehigh County coroner’s office.
