West Reading police are investigating a crash over the weekend that involved a Wyomissing police vehicle.
The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at South Fifth Avenue and Chestnut Street.
Wyomissing Police Chief John Phillips said one of his officers was returning to the borough, traveling west on Chestnut, after assisting West Reading police in an incident.
A preliminary report on the crash indicates the police vehicle was facing a green signal when it entered the intersection with Fifth and was broadsided by a car that ran a red light while traveling on Fifth toward Penn Avenue.
The officer who was driving was taken to Reading Hospital for evaluation.
Both vehicles were towed.
He referred the newspaper to West Reading police for further information. A crash report from West Reading was unavailable.
