U. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – Halloween has arrived early for our furry friends. Barktoberfest is kicking off at the Promenade Saucon Valley today.

Patrick Turner, general manager of Promenade Saucon Valley, said hundreds of dogs are expected to attend the event, which kicks off with a preview night on Friday at 4 p.m.

The full event takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature dock diving fun, dozens of pet-friendly vendors, pet costume contests, pumpkin painting, family entertainment, rescue organizations, food and more.

Turner said it’s the third year for the free event that’s open to the public.

He said the main event will feature a 27,000-gallon pool where dogs will compete in various water competitions.

Shoppers who spend at least $50 will get a free Promenade-branded pet tote organizer.

Man’s best friend will take center stage during a two-day event in Lehigh County.

Deb Hrouse with K9 Resorts, one of the event’s sponsors, says they partner with the Promenade to create a fun, family-friendly attraction where they can connect with the community.

While Barktoberfest is primarily about dogs, a cat or two has been known to show up, as all furry friends are invited.

This event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.
