Lisa E. Fischer

OBITUARY

Lisa E. Fischer, 58, of Duryea, left this world on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late John and Rita Zaladonis Fischer. Lisa graduated from Pittston Area High School with numerous honors, scoring in the top 2% of many national standardized tests, and went on to earn her degree in marketing from Kings Collage.

Lisa was a kind, funny, and brilliant human being. She could have done anything, anywhere. Instead, due to her devotion to family, she unselfishly chose to stay at home and manage all facets of her brothers 36-year optometric practice from its inception. She was the heart and soul of the practice, her brothers right arm, and his best friend. She loved caring for her patients and in return was loved by many. She was not only an expert manager/optician but also managed to empathetically embed herself into many patients’ lives, as no one else could.

Lisa had a soft place in her heart for all animals, in particular, she cared for both her own cats and numerous strays. Cooking was another advocation for which she was famous, especially her Christmas pierogies. Lisa’s giving continues even after death, being an organ donor, she will continue to bless the lives of others. Our horrific loss will be others’ Christmas miracle. Our hearts are forever broken, and she will be missed by all.

Surviving is: Brother, Dr. John Fischer and his wife, Lyudmyla, of Moosic; Sister, Dr. Suaznne Prestoy and her husband, Michael of Quakertown; Nephews, Michael and John John; Nieces, Jackie and Isabella; One great nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 9:30 am in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea, with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea.
