The Easton Area School District will host a public hearing to cap its high school project cost at $302 million.

The hearing scheduled for Jan. 20 is required by law.

The school district administration will make a brief presentation about the plan to tear down the high school at 2601 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township and replace it with a new school at a maximum construction cost of $206 million and a maximum overall cost of $302 million.

The district says the current high school is too old and inefficiently designed. The pool is barely functional and is slated for a replacement.

The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at the district education center, 1801 Bushkill Drive, Forks Township. Members of the public are invited to speak but must limit their comments to under three minutes.

You can review a copy of the high school plan at the education center on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The plan will be available for review at the hearing.
