SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Green Ridge Assembly of God spent Christmas Eve making sure no one in the community went without a meal.

For the third year in a row, volunteers gathered bright and early to prepare a Christmas Eve takeout dinner, assembling bags filled with ham, potatoes, corn, gravy, a roll, applesauce, and cookies.

More than 200 meals were prepped and packaged, continuing a tradition of giving that started with Thanksgiving dinners more than 15 years ago.

“We’re hoping that if it is a meal or two for them for a week, some of these people don’t have meals. So, if we can help them out, it makes me feel good. It makes our group feel good. It’s just a great thing to do for the community,” said Jane Ward, organizer.

Church leaders say the goal is simple, making sure everyone has a meal and feels remembered this Christmas.
