CUMRU TWP., Pa. – The discovery of human remains in Cumru Township has authorities working to determine if they belong to a man who went missing a year ago.
According to a social media post by U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia, human remains were recovered in the Flying Hills Community of Cumru Township.
They were found Sunday just after 6 p.m. by an individual walking their dog. Investigators say they were discovered approximately 20 yards off of the golf cart path that leads to the 18th green between Doral Drive and Lakewood Drive.
Cumru Township Police and the Berks County District Attorney’s Office say the remains appear to be human, but the gender is unknown at this time. The discovery has raised questions as to whether they belong to a man who’s a year.Â
U.S. Marshals say the area is consistent with Travelle Martin’s last known location when he fled from police in January 2025. He has not been seen nor heard from since.
In May of this year, police canvassed the same area as part of their search for Martin. Dive teams on scene used an underwater drone to search a small pond.
Further tests are being conducted to confirm the identity of the remains.
Authorities say human remains located in Cumru Township in April 2025 and this recent discovery are not believed to be related in any way.
Anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact the Cumru Township Police Department at (610) 777-9595 or the Berks County District Attorney Detectives Office at (610) 478-7171.Â
The investigation is active and ongoing.
