Anna Monacelli

OBITUARY

Anna Monacelli, 90, of Glenburn Twp., died Thursday December 25, 2025 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit. She was the widow of Enrico J. Monacelli who died in 1980.

Born in Scranton, she was the youngest daughter of the late Dominick and Angelina D’Amico Iacobino. A graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1953, in April of 1956 she married Rico and they were blessed with four children.

In the early years of marriage, Anna worked at the family business, Iacobino Meat Market on 9 th St. in West Side. Upon the untimely death of her husband, she had to go out and join the work force. She worked for a few years at the Scranton Detective Bureau, a job she absolutely loved. When that job ended, she started working at Gerrity’s Supermarket where she was the deli manager for 15 years in their West Side location.

Our Mom was an amazingly strong woman who suffered many heartaches in her life. Never wavering in her Faith, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother!! Her true joy in life was spoiling her Grand Babies and even at times, being their advocate lawyer! Always coming to their defense! She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are children Dominick Monacelli and wife Desiree, Donna Gallagher and husband Paul, Mark Monacelli and former spouse Mary Ellen, former daughter-in-law Donna Monacelli; grandchildren Enrico Monacelli and wife April, Anthony Monacelli and wife Kylie, Marisol and Mariano Monacelli, Erika Hudzik and husband Jonathan, Mark and Mikella Monacelli, Aurora and Amaya Monacelli, Paul Gallagher and fianc Rachel Sposito; great-grandchildren Winter Monacelli, Sophia Rae Gallagher and Valentina Hudzik; sisters Mary Pasqualichio and Marge Del Vecchio.

She was preceded in death by son Enrico P. Monacelli; grandsons Carmine Monacelli and Matthew Monacelli; sister Matilda Tarantini.

The funeral will be conducted on Friday with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, PA. Interment Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka. Friends and family may call Friday from 10 am until time of Mass in the church.
