CONDITIONS. WELL, YOU WERE EITHER DEALING WITH SOME SNOWY ROADS OR ICY CONDITIONS WHEREVER YOU WENT THIS MORNING, MAKING FOR A SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT MORNING COMMUTE. SNOW SQUALLS CAUSED A WHITE KNUCKLE MORNING FOR SOME DRIVERS ON I-79 NEAR BRIDGEVILLE. VISIBILITY WAS A MAIN CONCERN, DRIVERS SLOWING DOWN AND PUTTING ON THEIR FLASHERS TO GET TO WHERE THEY NEEDED TO BE. EVEN WITH SALT TRUCKS TREATING THE ROAD FOR SOME, LIKE BEN PRICE, WHO COMMUTES INTO THE CITY FROM BEAVER COUNTY, HIS DRIVE WAS FINE UNTIL HE GOT CLOSER TO WORK. I TAKE 376 THE WHOLE WAY IN, AND IT’S USUALLY PRETTY CLEAR. IT WAS CLEAR ALL THE WAY TO EAST WARRINGTON, AND THEN IT GOT A LITTLE SNOWY FROM THERE. HE SAYS IT’S A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND FEELS LIKE THE ALLENTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD IS OFTEN FORGOTTEN. IT’S PRETTY CRAZY WHEN YOU IT FEELS SAFE THE WHOLE WAY, AND THEN YOU GET TO THE TOP OF A HILL LIKE THIS AND YOU START COMING DOWN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU CAN’T STOP. WHICH IS PRETTY ALARMING. BUT YEAH, UP IN ALLENTOWN, WE’RE USED TO IT. WE’RE STRONG UP HERE, BUT WE WOULD DEFINITELY LOVE TO HAVE SOME MORE CITY SUPPORT. OTHER CITY NEIGHBORHOODS ALSO DEALT WITH THE WINTER WEATHER EFFECTS AND THE CITY’S BROOKLINE NEIGHBORHOOD. A CAR ROLLED OVER NEAR FIORE’S. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS HURT. ANOTHER CRASH WAS REPORTED ON 885, WHICH CAUSED A TRAFFIC HEADACHE FOR THOSE HEADING INTO THE CITY. AN OVERALL FRUSTRATION WAS IN THE AIR. I WOULD SAY THIS IS TYPICAL. YEAH, WE DON’T GENERALLY GET THE FASTEST CLEARINGS IN THE CITY UP HERE. FOR NOW, COVERING ALLEGHENY COUNTY IN PITTSBURGH’

Ben Prisbylla, who commutes from Beaver County into the city, said his drive was smooth until he reached East Warrington. “I take 376 the whole way in. And it’s usually pretty clear. It was clear all the way to East Warrington. And then it got a little snowy from there,” he said.Prisbylla noted that the Allentown neighborhood often feels neglected when it comes to road treatment. “It’s pretty crazy when you. It feels safe the whole way. And then you get to the top of a hill like this, and you start coming down. All of a sudden, you can’t stop. Which is pretty alarming. Being up in Allentown, we’re used to it. We’re strong up here, but we would definitely love to have some more city support,” he said.Other neighborhoods in the city also experienced the effects of the winter weather. In Brookline, a car rolled over near Fiori’s, but no one was injured. Another crash on 885 caused significant traffic delays for those heading into the city. A spokesperson for the city of Pittsburgh issued a statement saying in part, “The Department of Public Works is currently in winter operations mode, with 50 trucks dispatched servicing Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods, primary roads, secondary roads, and shadowing Environmental Services trucks on their pickup routes. Our fleet servicing vendor is also staffed in case there are any trucks with mechanical issues.”
