BRISTOL TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — A man is in police custody after a chaotic series of events involving a stolen U-Haul and multiple pursuits across Bucks County, according to police.
Police said officers in Bristol Township responded Tuesday morning for a well-being check on a man inside a U-Haul truck.
When officers approached, the man – who is known to police – drove off, hitting another vehicle, investigators said. A chase began but was called off when the suspect entered Interstate 95.
Video obtained by Action News showed officers pursuing the truck on Veterans Highway.
The suspect was later spotted Tuesday afternoon at a McDonald’s on New Falls Road in Bristol Township. Officers made contact, but police said he fled again onto I-95. Pennsylvania State Police troopers briefly took over the pursuit before calling it off.
The man was eventually located in Bensalem Township, where police said he struck a police vehicle during the encounter.
The driver, who has not been identified, was hospitalized and later arrested, according to police.
No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
