Candis R. “Candy” Blaszczyk, age 74 of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge. She was born in Erie on July 1, 1951, daughter of the late Paul and Dolores (Starks) Flanigan.
Candis attended Strong Vincent High School and later Edinboro University where she obtained her teaching degree. During her 37 years in Fairview School District as an elementary teacher she continued to pursue her education at Edinboro and received her master’s degree in Elementary Ed. She was affectionally known to her first-grade students as “Mrs.B”. She was a member Delta Kappa Gamma, Welcome Club and longtime member of the Maennerchor and Siebenbuerger clubs.
Candis is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard Blaszczyk; their children; Chad Blaszczyk, his wife Ashley and granddaughter Adelyn of Annapolis, MD, and Corey Blaszczyk, his wife Amy and grandsons Beau and Jack of Frederick, MD; one sister, Cindy (Keith) Kindle; one brother, Paul Flanigan and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St on Thursday, January 15, from 3pm until the time of a service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; Parkinsons Partners of NWPA.
