A bicyclist died after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred about 1:15 p.m. on MacArthur Road (Route 145) near Sutler Drive in Whitehall Township, Coroner Daniel Buglio said in a news release.

The rider was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township, where he died of his injuries from the crash, Buglio said.

The coroner was identifying the rider only as an adult male.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to assist in determining the cause and manner of death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing by the coroner’s office, Whitehall police, the Lehigh County Crash Team and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, Buglio said.

Authorities did not immediately release further information, including whether the driver of the vehicle stopped to cooperate with investigators.

The crash closed MacArthur Road, a multi-lane thoroughfare, in both directions, according to a report from the scene.
