PALMER TWP., Pa. – Gather up a few friends – and a few cents – and bid farewell to 2025 with a tasty Lehigh Valley staple.

Jimmy’s Hot Dogs, a decades-old, family-run hot dog shop, is hosting a customer appreciation day where patrons can purchase hot dogs for a penny on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 2555 Nazareth Road in Palmer Township.

The promotion is limited to two penny hot dogs per customer (while supplies last), and additional hot dogs can be purchased at regular price.

The deal is good for in-store orders only (no phone or online orders).

“Thank you for incredible support this year and we want to close it out [with] a bang,” reads an announcement on the business’ Facebook page.

“So gather up those pennies laying around and dress warm in case there is a line out the door.”

Raj and Priya Muddu purchased the landmark Easton area business, known for its “everything” hot dog with mustard, chopped onions and a pickle spear, in 2024 from retiring owners Frank and Polyxeni Bounoutas.

The Muddus also own and operate downtown Easton’s Tandoor Grill, an authentic Indian restaurant that has been temporarily closed since a June fire damaged the Huntington Apartments above it.

At Jimmy’s Hot Dogs, the couple operates the business alongside their daughter, Meena.

“I’ve been a Jimmy’s customer like many others for the last decade and a half, ever since we moved from Jersey to Pennsylvania,” Raj told 69 News in 2024.

“This one, Jimmy’s, was an opportunity that was too good to resist.”

The Palmer shop has been in operation since 1991. However, Jimmy’s actually traces it origins back to 1908, when Jimmy Makris began operating a hot dog cart in Easton before opening a hot dog stand in Phillipsburg in 1910.

The Palmer shop, located in the 25th Street Shopping Center, is open 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
