Crews were on the scene for several hours on New Year’s Day after a salt truck brought down multiple traffic lights along a busy intersection in West Mifflin. WATCH PREVIOUS VIDEO IN PLAYFINDER ABOVE In a Facebook post from the Skyview Volunteer Fire Company on Thursday, officials assisted the West Mifflin Police Department along Route 51 in the area near the old Century III Mall and the Denny’s restaurant around 5 a.m. Officials said they assisted after a salt truck, with its bed raised, tore down all the traffic lights at the intersection. That portion of the road remained closed for over 10 hours as crews worked to clean up damage and restore the traffic lights. “Despite the freezing temperatures, these dedicated crews spent their holiday keeping everyone safe and preventing what could’ve been an even worse situation,” Skyview VFC said in the post. “Huge thanks to everyone for their hard work and commitment today!”No injuries have been reported.
