FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A man who died after being hit by a vehicle on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Thursday has been identified.

Luis A. Carlo, 32, of Allentown, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.

Police responded to the collision in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike at mile marker 76.3 in Franklin Township around 4 a.m. The location is just north of Exit #74 for Mahoning Valley.

The coroner’s office said the cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been ruled an accident.

Carlo was standing along the side of the roadway, attending to a disabled vehicle, when he was hit by a passing vehicle, according to the news release.

The coroner’s office said the incident remains under active investigation and is being conducted jointly by the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pennsylvania State Police – Pocono Station.
