EASTON, Pa. – A local marching band is starting off the new year on a high note.

The Easton Area High School “Red Rovers” Marching Band spent the New Year’s holiday performing in New Orleans, where they won more than a dozen awards.

The “Beast from the East” won first place in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade.

They also won trophies for their performances in the Battle of the Bands and at Jackson Square and the House of Blues.
