Upper Darby residents celebrated their diversity at the eighth annual International Festival “The World in One Place.”

The event Saturday held at the iconic Five Points intersection on Garrett Road in front of the township building was a celebration of the township’s strength of many people coming together to make the community better, Upper Darby said.

The highlight of the day included the rainbow-colored Parade of Flags, which showcases the heritage of residents who proudly call Upper Darby home.

Mayor Ed Brown was joined by Delaware County Council President Dr. Monica Taylor and state Sen. Tim Kearney, D-26, leading the parade waving the Red, White and Blue along with dozens of other national flags.

Throughout the day DJ Rickey Sharp kept the crowd on its feet dancing to world music as attendees sampled food and beverage vendors along with businesses were on hand, the township added.

The Kids Zone provided our young ones plenty of opportunities to play including bounce inflatables, face painting and the opportunity to create their own artwork.

Adults had the opportunity to relax, sip and enjoy the festival vibes in the beer and wine garden with selections from township businesses Artillery Brewing and Secret Sauce BBQ, Upper Darby said.

Performances included the Beverly Hills Middle School Marching Band as well Senfu Stoney Young Rhythm Explorers and Cheng’s martial Arts.

Over two dozen nonprofit organizations were on hand passing along information about programs, services, and community initiatives.

Organizers lauded the success of the day and are planning for the ninth annual festival in 2026, the township said.
