OBITUARY
Geraldine (Frost) Lang, of Yardley and a West Scranton native, passed away on Monday evening at Green Ridge Health Care Center in Scranton, following illness. She was 88 years old.
On February 17, 2009, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Louis Lang.
Born in Scranton on April 17, 1937, and daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Lynch) Frost, Geraldine was a graduate of the former South Catholic High School’s Class of 1955. A proud academic, she studied nursing before becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. After briefly working in health care, she returned to school to study education, ultimately earning her master’s degree in Special Education from College Misericordia.
She would go onto a career in education, having worked as a special education teacher for the NEIU 19. In 1983, she moved to Yardley where she married and raised her son. While in Yardley, she worked as a substitute teacher for St. John the Evangelist School for nearly a decade. A devoted Roman Catholic, she was also a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church Parish in Yardley.
A woman of devotion to God and loyalty to her family, she will forever be missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her son, Louis Lang and wife Gia Novembre-Lang of Yardley; her sister, Marion Needham of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Gerald “Butch” and John “Jack” Frost; and sisters, Ann Marie Smith, Jean McAndrew and Betty Viola.
Her son would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Green Ridge Care Center, as well as Geraldine’s nieces, Cathy Berghauser, Mary Needham and sister, Marion Needham, for their collective care and compassion throughout the years.
Services with a Mass at St. Patrick’s Church and burial at Cathedral Cemetery will be announced.
