OBITUARY
Marilyn J. Blackledge Ostrowski, 94, of Scranton, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Bernard H. Ostrowski, passed away on February 6, 2011.
Born in Scranton, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Anna (Webb) Blackledge. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and spent her career as a switchboard operator at Marywood University.
Marilyn was a woman of many passions. An avid reader, she cherished the adventures found within the pages of her favorite books and was always ready to share a story that inspired her. She also greatly enjoyed bowling and line dancing – activities that brought her much happiness. Marilyn devoted her time to volunteering at Allied Services, where her warm spirit and kind heart made a lasting impact on those she served.
Above all else, Marilyn’s greatest treasure was her family. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Dianne) Ostrowski, and her daughter, Pamela (Kenneth) Savitski. She leaves behind a legacy of love reflected in her grandchildren: Brittany Ostrowski, Courtney (Jon) Beckley, Brandon Ostrowski and his partner, Abby Guziewicz, and Brian Ostrowski. To them, she was not just a grandmother, but their biggest cheerleader and the embodiment of unconditional love, offering guidance and unwavering support. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elaine Zurko, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her siblings: Donald (Jean) Blackledge, Jean (Francis Buddy) Cannon, Peggy (Bob) Williams, Judy (Tom) McGrath, Neil (Erlene) Blackledge, and her brother-in-law, Robert Zurko.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1101 Willow Street, Peckville, PA 18452. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Serenity Care and Mid Valley Health Care for the compassionate care they provided Marilyn during her stay
