Authorities have released the identities of the gunshot victims in west Bethlehem.
Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said Sarah A. Rice, 39, and Greg A. Johnson, 42, were pronounced dead around 11:30 p.m. Friday in a house in the 200 block of 10th Avenue. The shootings occurred about 10 p.m. Friday, he said.
Buglio said both died from gunshot injuries. Autopsies on both are scheduled for Monday, he said.
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan said Sunday the matter remains under investigation. County officials and the Bethlehem Police Department are investigating.
A candlelight vigil has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday night outside the home, 209 10th Ave., to remember Rice and Johnson, and raise awareness about domestic violence, according to Salisa McFadden, one of the vigil organizers.
Bethlehem police received a 911 call from an adult who dropped a child off at that address after a playdate, according to a news release Saturday. The child entered the home, but quickly exited and reported a “serious issue” in the home to the adult.
Police then found two deceased adults in the home. Two children and an older adult in the home were unharmed. The older adult is not considered a suspect and appeared unaware of the incident, police said.
The three children who lived at the home were identified as the children of the deceased people and were placed in the care of family members, police said.
Bethlehem police said Saturday there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.
A family member of Rice’s has established an online fundraising effort to help her family. More information is available on the GoFundMe page in Rice’s name.
