DOYLESTOWN, PA — A huge crowd of people took to the streets in Doylestown on Saturday, chanting and waving signs. For several hours, they filled the sidewalks in and around the Bucks County Administration building and the courtyard protesting against President Trump.

The “No Kings” protest was one of four that took place in Bucks County and one of more than 2,000 that took place across the nation. The public rallies were held to protest President Trump and what his opponents say is his authoritarian leadership of the nation.

In a social media posting, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro thanked everyone who took part in the protests. “Almost 250 years ago, patriots in Philadelphia declared independence from a King,” he wrote. “Today, thousands of people in Pennsylvania and across the country, from all walks of life, peacefully took up that fight for the fundamental freedoms this nation was built on.”

He continued, “The American story is a work in progress — and the darkness coming out of DC right now is a testament to that. To everyone who protested peacefully in the streets: thank you for bringing the light and doing the work. I’m going to keep fighting — and I know you will too.”
