Syracuse men’s soccer fell 4–2 to Pittsburgh on Saturday night, dropping to 6–5–2 overall and 3–3–0 in ACC play. The Panthers (5–6–3, 1–4–1) capitalized on early chances to hand the Orange their fifth loss of the season.

Pittsburgh opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a penalty kick from Arnau Vilamitjana, but Syracuse equalized seven minutes later when Chimere Omeze converted off a corner sequence involving Ernest Mensah Jr. and Kristjan Fortier. The Panthers regained the lead in the 33rd minute as Albert Thorsen finished a feed from Niklas Sorensen to make it 2–1 at halftime.

Vilamitjana struck again in the 48th minute, curling home his second goal of the night to extend the lead to two. Syracuse responded quickly when Michael Acquah scored his first goal in an Orange uniform in the 50th minute, assisted by Landon Darko, cutting the deficit to 3–2.

Pittsburgh sealed the result in the 67th minute when Logan Oliver headed in a free-kick sequence involving Vilamitjana and Sorensen.

The Panthers outshot Syracuse 21–11 and held a 5–2 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Tomas Hut made six saves for the Orange.

Syracuse will look to rebound Tuesday night when it visits Central New York rival Cornell at Berman Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
