Officials have released the cause of death in the suspected murder-suicide of a couple that happened Friday in Bethlehem.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said autopsies completed Monday determined that Greg Johnson, 42, and Sarah Rice, 39, both died from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident happened about 10 p.m. Friday in their home in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in west Bethlehem.

The coroner said the manner of death remains pending while Bethlehem police and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office investigate the incident.

DA Gavin Holihan said Monday there are no charges pending with anyone from the incident, and there was no additional information to release. City police have said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.

Police were called to the home after one of the children who lives there was dropped off at the home Friday night. The child entered the home, but came back out and reported a serious issue in the home.

Officers found Johnson and Rice, along with a gun, in the basement of the home, Bethlehem police said in a news release. An older adult was found elsewhere in the home. That person was unaware of the incident and is not considered a suspect, police said. Family members are taking care of the couple’s three young children.

A GoFundMe was started to raise money for the children. As of Monday, about $26,000 had been raised. Donations may be made here, gofund.me/a04d5af24.
